What Are SOIC-to-SOIC Adapters?

SOIC-to-SOIC adapters are used to interface a socketed SOIC device with a
surface-mount SOIC footprint on a PCB. They provide a removable, non-soldered
connection while preserving the electrical and mechanical characteristics of
the target SOIC package.

These adapters are commonly used in debugging, programming, prototyping, and
validation workflows where repeated device insertion is required or where
direct soldering is impractical. By introducing a socketed interface, engineers
can safely swap devices, perform measurements, or validate designs without
modifying the underlying PCB layout.

SOIC-to-SOIC adapters are available in multiple pin counts and body widths and
may be configured with open-top or clamshell socket styles depending on access
and retention requirements.
